arrest warrants

Postby kevin speed » Mon Jun 15, 2009 9:46 pm

can anyone tell me how long arrest warrants are valid for. I was caught speeding in march 2004 and because of divorce, moving house etc the fine was not paid. Whilst clearing my home in august 2004 i found i letter from the courts saying that i failed to appear i court for this offence and a warrant had been issued for my arrest. 5 years on i still have not had the '' knock on the door''. Anyone have any advice

In your circumstance you will probably find that the arrest warrant will remain active untill somebody does come knocking on your door. I would reccomend clarifiying the matter with the police directly. The longer you leave it the worse it could get. In terms of warrant timescales i think there no timelimit.
