can my sister take the dog back?

Postby leeanne » Tue Jun 23, 2009 3:03 pm

A couple of months ago my sister moved into a new flat and was told by her landlord she had to get rid of her dog. She asked me if I would take her under the condition that once we took her in my sister was not to try and take her back.

She came round to my house the other day and told me that she wanted the dog back, I refused. Since then she has been texting me, threatening to blackmail me with regard to things that went on in my relationship. I just wondered where I stood, she has the paperwork for the dog, but we have had her for over 2 months now.

Thank you for any help

Kind Regards

In reagrds to the dog, I'm not completly sure how long you need to have a dog before its yours, the NSPCA will be able to point you in the right direction regarding animal owner rights etc. In regards to the threats and black mail that will certainly be an issue which you could report to the police. They may also be able to help you get your dog back as you have been threatned and blackmailed and deal with the issue about the blackmail. You could also save any messages from your sister as proof about the black mail.
