Bought a used car from a 'reputable' dealer. Also purchased at time extended warranty & GAP insurance. Car came with 30 day return if I changed my mind for any reason. After 26 days car broke down (driveshaft) and needed to be returned & fixed. I negotiated an extension to the 30 day return in the circumstances. Day 50 the car broke down again (intake hose connected to turbo), back to the garage for fixing. Day 53, yes, car broke down again (unknown fault but connected to previous problem) 3 hours after collecting it from the garage. I will now be returning the car under the extended 30 day return period but the garage are adamant that they will not/cannot reimburse me for the warranty & GAP insurance purchased (total £1000 worth). My argument is that in the circumstances an ex gratia payment should be made which will go some way to cover loss of earnings/out of pocket expenses as a result of the breakdowns but what are my legal rights here please?
