I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right place, so I apologise for being dim, but I really need some advice as to what to do.

OK, my gran is ill and bed ridden. She has carers that call in 4 times a day. Also, because my Mum has been ill (breast cancer), and I have been unwell myself, my aunt and two cousins have also been taking care of my gran. My gran was recently hospitalised and whilst there, she told my Mum that she thought her money was being taken and could Mum please get copies of her bank statements and find out what was going on. Now it gets complicated. Cousin A was given my grans bank cards and is supposed to be in charge of paying grans bills, giving aunt money to buy shopping, generally look after things for gran. Mum asks aunt to ask cousin A to get copies of statements (because gran asked her to), and all hell is let loose, they are calling my Mum names, being very nasty. Mum goes to grans and finds mail, takes it to gran in hospital, gran opens a letter from the bank saying she is overdrawn! Gran is very upset because she had £20,000+, and she is getting her pension/benefits. Then gran gets a letter saying she has not paid for the carers for the last 6 months, totalling another £4,000 owed, and where has all her pension gone? Gran is distraught, and health is not good, although home now.

Now, aunt and cousins are very nasty people. Dad has told Mum to stay out of it, because they will arrange for someone to smash up car, break into house, attack Mum in street. Mum doesn't need all this, being ill. I don't either, but am loathe to see these people (I hate to call them family, they disgust me), get away with stealing my grans money.

Thing is, gran has not always been 'with it', her mental state went drastically downhill when she was very ill. And we have no idea what verbal agreements she has made with aunt/cousins, so we can't actually prove she didn't say "take all my money and spend the lot".

Is there any way we can arrange for an investigation into where grans money has gone, without our names actually being brought into it. I don't know what I'm asking actually, I just need some advice. What do I do? How do I help Mum? Or do I just let them get away with it?
